I've had a lot of anxiety the past two weeks and along with that I have been lacking inspiration to create hand cut collages while I go through 500+ Scientific American magazines. I've never been to art school, so I find reading about artists is a great way for me to learn about art history.
The book store near my house has a very limited range of books about art and artists, so I picked these three up and have been really enjoying read them. The three I picked out are about some fantastic artists that I have been curious about since travelling to New York -- Georgia O'Keeffe, Frida Kahlo and Claude Monet. I have added in a link to where you can buy them on Amazon, only if you would like to add them to your collection.
This book is more of a coffee table book then a novel, but it is filled with great photos of her works and information on her life. This is definitely smaller then what I would normally like to read but it would also be fantastic as a gift!
Same goes for this book as the Georgia O'Keeffe book -- coffee table book but still very informative and would make a great gift for any Frida lover.
I haven't yet finished this book because it is definitely a novel -- it's huge! I am really enjoying reading Ross King's book about Monet. I never knew he had such a sad life. If you have seen the iconic Water Lilies by Monet, definitely give this book a go.
