The Zodiac Collection

Astrology is the search for human meaning in the sky, it seeks to understand general and specific human behavior through the influence of planets, constellations and other celestial objects. Since the development of science through modern technology, horoscopes have become a superstitious way of belief and considered to be a gimmick. Contemporary Christian’s consider the zodiac to be of Pagan and Satanic thought which goes against free will. In that sense, horoscopes can be written off easily as a “once-was” primal agenda to control the masses. Deep down it offers people without a set belief system a form of identity, purpose and hope for the future. In Madelaine Buttini’s “The Zodiac Collection”, the artist uses the traditional meaning and symbols used for horoscopes and interprets into a more modern sense of our world today. The zodiac has been a transformative process from creation to the individuals who believe in them. So, why shouldn’t they develop and progress further into the modern era of the 21st century?
